Mourning by Chris McDaniel
I am on a beach,
Surrounded by an ocean of tears.
I feel my fire failing.
I want to weep with my family and friends,
But they are wet and chilled,
By their tears and the storm.
I’m trying to provide warmth and light
To comfort them
But if I am unable,
I will be the stone they cling to
As tears fall and wind howls.
I won’t cry, I can’t
Too many people need my strength…
For today at least.
